"Wish I Had An Angel" was the eleventh single for Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, the second from their fifth album once. The song features vocals by then-vocalist Tarja Turunen and bassist Marco Hietala, but is still performed live with current vocalist Anette Olzon and is often used as the final song of the band's live shows.

Featured on the soundtrack of the film Alone in the Dark, it became the group's most popular single in Europe and in the United States, next to Nemo. It made it onto two U.S. film soundtracks. It reached 60 in the United Kingdom, the highest of any of the band's singles in the UK.

"Wish I Had an Angel" was the last video from once and it features some scenes from the 2005 movie Alone in the Dark also directed by Boll. An alternate version omits the film's footage.

The vibrant intro of Tarja Turunen joined together with the Jukka Nevalainen (Drummer) Gives an extra effect to the song and not to the forget the guitarist Marko Tapani Hietala .

. Tuomas seems to be saying this might be the worst mistake of my career - 'fall when I may', and at same time preparing Tarja, acknowledging that this will likely end their friendship. But a link to BBB - did you ever listen to what we played?

"Old loves they die hard." Love doesn't have to mean "in love". Tuomas has stated many times that he has loved her voice, and that she was beautiful, but call me crazy but that doesn't sound like anything more than admiration. Tarja was his muse, and he loved her. But I don't believe he was ever "in love" with her. [He has a girlfriend].

Lust is a sin. Like greed. "Burning angel wings to dust". What I infer from these two lines is, it’s not working out. 1. These could be representative of Tarja; she is saying I'm in love with my sin and it’s causing destruction, literally turning the band relationships to dust, or 2. Tuomas is saying because he is allowing the problem to remain, he is causing the destruction. "I wish I had your angel tonight" - Tuomas really wants the old Tarja back.
